Cork and lime presentation in Denmark

I am pretty fond of these fantastic cork-lime-clay product families from DIASEN, so I was really happy when I signed up for their lecture in Denmark, first in 2022 and again in 2023.
Probably many of you think I am a sales representative, which I am not, so it is fair to ask why I talk about these products so much.
Because using cork in the building industry is like ethical slow fashion. Cork oak is the only tree not harmed by harvesting the bark, but it takes 8 to 10 years to regrow.
For harvesting the bark, you need trained professionals; this ancient knowledge would have vanished without the cork industry.
Using cork-based products increases the demand, so the native cork tree reforestation would increase. Many people are unaware that it has been estimated that only about 10% of the former Iberian cork oak forests remain, even though cork oak is fire-resistant and capable of regrowing after a fire. I am planning to write about the impact of eucalyptus plantations on Portugal’s natural habitat loss and the on spread of wildfires.
Diasen products only use the by-product of cork bottle stopper production.

Cork is exceptionally durable. Paolo showed us a picture of a 3000-year-old construction where they used cork, and it is still there as it was installed yesterday.

Mixing with lime creates this remarkable finish which can be internal plaster, external render or paint. These products are vapour-open and can be used to boost the new or existing building’s thermal and acoustic performance.
